I have been a member of Mile High United Way’s Board of Trustees for 5 years, and served as chairman of the board for the last two years.

I’ve seen a lot of great things happen at Mile High United Way during this time, but I’ve never been more excited and optimistic about our future as I am today.  The Board of Trustees today named Christine Benero as our new president and CEO.

Christine is exceptionally well qualified for this role.  She is an amazing leader, and she’ll take us to new levels of success as we continually seek to create a better future for our community.  She has served as the president and CEO of the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross, and she is credited with completely revitalizing that organization.

Her list of accomplishments is long and very impressive, and I invite you to read her full bio.  But Christine’s greatest strength is her warmth and her passion for changing lives for the better.  She has an amazing ability to connect with people and inspire them to make a difference in our community.  And that’s exactly what Mile High United Way does.

I expect to see tremendous achievements from Mile High United Way under Christine’s leadership – effective solutions for children and adults who are struggling, and a healthier community for everyone.

Christine is the right person for this position. She is forward thinking and she knows how to surround herself with wise advisors. I watched her skill as she gathered the troops in New Orleans. We are most blessed to have in Denver!!!

As a former board and executive committee member of Mile High United Way, and former board chair at the Mile High American Red Cross, I have a unique perspective on both organizations — and on Christine Benero.

I couldn’t be more thrilled for Christine, for her accomplishments as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. She has served the Red Cross with distinction, from the core of her excellence as a leader and human being.

While the Red Cross will dearly miss their leader, there is no greater “win-win” possible for both organizations and for the Denver community at large.

Christine is a huge win for United Way and a huge loss for Red Cross. I have gotten to know Christine through various corporate partnerships/sponsorships with the Red Cross and she is a tremendous assett to any organization. Congrats to United Way and Christine. I look forward to working with you both in the future.
